Cultural Competency Corner Spring 2003

AmeriHealth Mercy has been working to identify and respond to the needs of our members with limited or low English proficiency, or sensory impairments. The key to ensuring equal access to benefits and services for these members is communication. Communication, whether written or spoken, is the key to establishing the patient/practitioner relationship. AmeriHealth Mercy reminds all participating practitioners that you have an obligation to provide interpreter services for members with limited or low English proficiency and to make reasonable efforts to accommodate members with sensory impairments. Any practitioner with a question or concern regarding the provision of these services may call our Member Services Department at 1-800-521-6860.
