AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan Awards Scholarships to Members
AmeriHealth Mercy Employees Have Contributed More Than $1.5 Million in Member Scholarships Since Program Began
Harrisburg (PA) - AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan recently awarded 12 of its members with a $2,000 scholarship to help them further their education at the 19th Annual Member Scholarship Reception held at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East in Harrisburg, PA. This year’s reception featured guest speaker Isiah Anderson, Jr., President of Three Cord Youth Services LLC.
AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan created the Member Scholarship Program in 1988 in an effort to extend support to its members beyond traditional health care services. The Member Scholarship Program recognizes AmeriHealth Mercy members who have committed themselves to continuing their education beyond high school. The program is unique in that it is driven and funded by donations from AmeriHealth Mercy employees. Since its inception, the Scholarship Program has awarded over $1.5 million to more than 650 members in both the Lehigh/Capital and Philadelphia areas.
“The Member Scholarship Program is a great example of how AmeriHealth Mercy seeks to support our members’ wellbeing beyond simply meeting their health care needs,” said Sherry Knowlton, General Manager of AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan. “As part of our mission to build healthier communities, we are very proud to help our members pursue their dreams of higher education.”
