Katrina Victims Receive a Helping Hand from AmeriHealth Mercy Employees
Harrisburg (PA) – Still feeling the pain of the Hurricane Katrina victims, employees from AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan knew they wanted to do something different for the holiday season. So the AmeriHealth Mercy social club decided to give up their usual Pollyanna and hold a Silent Auction to benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane Victims Fund. The gala event was postponed by the unusual December snowstorm but was still a rousing success when held in their offices in Harrisburg.
Jim Heckman from The American Red Cross of Susquehanna Valley visited the AmeriHealth Mercy office in late February to receive the $1,000 that was raised from the more than 30 items auctioned off and additional donations from the staff.
