Continue Their Education Through Scholarships
A unique blending of health care and compassion for others -
Local health plan goes beyond traditional health care services
Harrisburg, PA - AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan is awarding scholarships to 13 of its members for tuition at an accredited college or trade school. All of these members are Medical Assistance recipients who live in Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, and Lehigh counties.
To honor the recipients, AmeriHealth Mercy will hold a banquet on Thursday, July 21, 2005, from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at the Four Points by Sheraton, located at 800 East Park Drive in Harrisburg. Dr. Lonnie E. Fuller, Medical Director of Capital Region Health System @ Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg will be the featured speaker.
The Member Scholarship Program was created in 1988 when employees donated their own money to help a member beyond the traditional health care services. One $2,000 scholarship was awarded that first year and now the effort has grown to reach thirteen members who have committed themselves to continuing their education. Since its inception, the Member Scholarship Program has awarded more 600 scholarships in both the Lehigh/Capital and Philadelphia areas.
Headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with its corporate office in Philadelphia, AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan is a Medical Assistance managed care plan currently serving more than 83,000 Medical Assistance recipients in Adams, Berks, Carbon, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Northampton, Perry, Pike and York Counties.
