AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan Appoints New Health Educator

Harrisburg, PA - AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan welcomes Roxane E. Hearn to the company as the new Health Educator. In her new role at AmeriHealth Mercy, Hearn will work to improve the health knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of members. Over the next 12 months, Hearn, with the guidance of her Director Stephen Schlager, will develop twelve health education programs. Some of theses programs include: Asthma Management, Sports Safety, Diabetes Awareness, Arthritis Awareness, and Baby Safety. All programs will be available to AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan members and providers. Hearn will also oversee several member programs including Member Scholarships, Children's Art, and a Women's Health Ministry.

Hearn brings a wide range of experience to AmeriHealth Mercy. She has worked as a Health Educator for the American Red Cross, Capital Region Health System at Hamilton Health Center, and Diakon Lutheran Social Ministries. Hearn comes to AmeriHealth Mercy directly from Cornell Companies, Inc. where she was the Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Management.

Hearn graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science in School and Community Health Education and is currently completing her Masters in Health Care Administration. She is a resident of Harrisburg and is a member of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE), the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD), and the Harrisburg High School-School of Business and Industry Advisory Board. Hearn is also a certified health education specialist (CHES) and a certified aerobic instructor.
