AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan Sponsors Senior Expo “The Coming Of Age”

Hazelton, PA – Senior citizens and their families are invited to attend a Senior Expo “The Coming of Age” at the Laurel Mall on Tuesday, August 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Hosted by State Representative Todd A. Eachus, this event gives senior citizens an opportunity to learn more about services and programs available to them.

AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan is a sponsor of this event and representatives will be on hand to distribute health literature and discuss their “Give Your Medicine a Check Up” campaign. This campaign provides valuable information about using medications correctly and safely.

The average elderly person uses 4.5 prescription drugs and two over the counter medications on a daily basis. Give Your Medicine a Check Up providers seniors with valuable tools to work with their doctor to make sure that they are taking the proper medications for their medical conditions. The focus is on avoiding harmful drug interactions that can occur when people take multiple medications.

Headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with its corporate offices in Philadelphia, AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan is a Medical Assistance managed care plan currently serving 76,000 Medical Assistance recipients in Adams, Berks, Carbon, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Perry, Pike, and York counties.
