Arthritis Foundation Presents Community Leader of the Year Award
to Daniel J. Hilferty
The Arthritis Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania named Daniel J. Hilferty, President and CEO, AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan, the 2003 Community Leader of the Year at the organization’s annual Crystal Ball on Saturday.According to the Arthritis Foundation, the award is presented each year to “a distinguished citizen who symbolizes the true community spirit of caring.”In accepting the award, Mr. Hilferty shared the honor with AmeriHealth Mercy associates who volunteer their time and contribute funds to improve the quality of life of people in the Easter Pennsylvania region.
AmeriHealth Mercy has partnered with the Arthritis Foundation in supporting the organization’s Walk with Ease program in Lancaster County and the Parish Nurses Arthritis Management Initiative in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties.
Mr. Hilferty is involved in many community organizations including the Pennsylvania Economy League, City of Philadelphia Airport Advisory Board, the Police Athletic League and the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition.He has received the Saint Joseph’s University Ignatius Award, the Whitney M. Young Award from the Cradle of Liberty Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Small Miracles Award from the Center for Autistic Children, the Friend of Year Award from Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly, among other honors.
