Needy Children receive Toys From
Salvation Army, AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan
Harrisburg (PA) – On Friday, December 6, 2002, AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan associates donated gifts to more than 450 needy children in the Lehigh/Capital and Northeast Zone through the Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree Program.
The Angel Tree Program provides disadvantaged members of the community a brighter holiday season. Volunteers receive a child’s, “angel,” name from the Salvation Army and purchase gifts for him or her for the holiday season. AmeriHealth Mercy associates often take a team approach, collecting presents from their co-workers, family and friends for their “angel.” This year, AmeriHealth Mercy associates purchased gifts for over 450 “angels” throughout its 12 county service area.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, with a regional corporate office in Harrisburg, AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan is a Medical Assistance managed care plan currently serving 64,000 Medical Assistance recipients in the ten-county Lehigh/Capital area of Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Northampton, Perry and York Counties. AmeriHealth Mercy also serves members in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties.
Owned by AmeriHealth, Inc., a subsidiary of Independence Blue Cross, and Mercy Health System, AmeriHealth Mercy and its affiliated plans have nearly twenty years of experience exclusively serving Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) populations.
