Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is a long-term illness that affects the coronary arteries in the heart. When one or more of these arteries become narrowed or blocked by the build-up of cholesterol, there is a decrease in the blood flow to the heart muscle. AmeriHealth Mercy wants to help you control your CAD.
Symptoms of CAD include:
- chest pressure with activity/rest
- heartburn
- nausea/vomiting
- shortness of breath
- heavy sweating
Risk factors of CAD include family history of heart disease, smoking and high blood pressure.
The Keys to Your Care program will help you learn about CAD and how to control your risk factors. Your case manager may also work with your PCP to develop a treatment plan for you. |
