Senior Vice President & General Manager

Sherry Knowlton is Senior Vice President and General Manager for AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan. In this role, Ms. Knowlton is responsible for the oversight and operations of AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan, including managing the marketing, outreach, medical management and provider contracting services.

In addition, Ms. Knowlton also oversees the Government Affairs Department. In this capacity, she is the Company’s liaison with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW), and is responsible for the development of contract proposals for AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan and its affiliate, Keystone Mercy Health Plan in Philadelphia.  She is responsible for ensuring that all AmeriHealth Mercy and Keystone Mercy systems are in compliance with DPW contract requirements and state and federal regulations.  She is also charged with monitoring all legislative activities.

Before joining AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan, Ms. Knowlton was the Senior Director for Government Programs for the Independence Blue Cross family of companies based in Philadelphia. There, she was responsible for strategic planning and development for Medicaid and Medicare managed care programs as well as the company's Medicaid operations in four states. She also oversaw the development of new markets and products as well as the implementation and start-up operations for Medicaid and Medicare. In addition, Ms. Knowlton worked as the Deputy Secretary for Medical Assistance Programs for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where she directed the Commonwealth's $6 billion Medical Assistance program that served 1.7 million recipients.
